A short obituary appeared the following week in one of the Decorah papers stating that the cause of death was throat trouble.

Findagrave.com lists the death date as 10 Feb 1904, but unfortunately doesn't reveal its source. An image of his gravestone can be found on the Iowa Gravestone Photo Project website. His daughter, Anna, and son, Edward, who both died at a fairly young age are buried beside him.

UPDATE (30 Jul 2016): In looking over the HUSEBY booklet again, I discovered some letters I had previously overlooked. One was a note from my mother, Verla Williams, and it described how she had been corresponding with Joyce Peterson whose husband, Loren, was a descendant of John Albert HUSEBY. Joyce had wanted a picture of his gravestone and Verla discovered that there wasn't one. She suggested to Joyce that perhaps they could gather some money and have one put on the grave, but nothing was ever done. So eventually Verla ended up doing it herself.

The following letter details some of the problems that occurred during that whole process. It turned out that some gravestones were in the wrong place.

She also had included a few additional pictures.
